Future plans

Let’s see how things go.

Since I opened - last Aug / Sept 2025 - business has been slow. I enjoyed a busy Christmas and New Year. January was typically quiet and now at the time of writing this in mid-March ‘26, I am seeing a gradual increase in bookings.

I have only just opened my second escape room so I am hopeful that earnings will increase.

Aims / hopes for the future:

  1. I would very much like to be in a position financially, to employ ‘some’ staff. I’m close but not quite there yet. I have taken on a couple of potential staff but have had to hold off setting things up properly until I am confident there is enough income to justify their employment.

  2. The escape rooms are my ‘bread and butter’ but it is important to keep things interesting and continue to come up with other ways to generate income and interest. One of my hopes is to be able to make a return - of sorts - into teaching. Wait wait wait, I don’t mean being a teacher again (no, I wasn’t suited to that role) - what I am developing are mobile escape games to take into schools to help schools promote the ‘teaching and learning’ of pupils’ soft skills, through structured, competitive puzzle solving fun!

Soft Skills: Communication, Teamwork/Collaboration, Problem-Solving, Adaptability, Time Management, Leadership, and Emotional Intelligence/ Critical Thinking.

  3. Tutoring: my venue is ideal for hosting 1 to 1 or small group sessions for tutors. It is a safe space, quiet and well-positioned. I am not hosting anyone yet but have made contact with various people and hope this is something that will ‘take flight’. If you are interested - let me know, get in touch.

  4. Gaming: I’m a big fan of table-top gaming. One of my planned projects is to make a gaming table-top to go on top of an existing table thereby creating an ideal gaming platform for epic role-playing adventures and quests! It is a work-in-progress at the moment because I am focusing on the school projects - but keep an eye out. If you are a GM looking for a venue - get in touch!

  5. University of Northumbria - students studying game design & computing are currently working on projects that I submitted to the university. Projects include the design of a game involving several businesses along the high street, and a mobile escape room using an online platform. Deadlines are fast approaching so I’m excited to see what they come up with.
